Founder Bio: Sheray Laury
Sheray Laury is a mission-driven entrepreneur, certified cranial prosthesis specialist, and the founder of VR Edutainment a STEM.org-accredited, woman-owned nonprofit dedicated to bringing immersive STEM and career education to underserved youth. With a background in business management and years of experience running virtual reality programs, Sheray shifted her focus during the COVID-19 pandemic after discovering the power of virtual reality as an educational tool. She saw firsthand how engaging, hands-on learning especially through VR could close learning gaps, build confidence, and prepare students for real-world careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. Sheray launched VR Edutainment in 2023 to make future-focused learning mobile, accessible, and inspiring. Her commitment to innovation, equity, and student empowerment continues to guide the organization’s growth and impact across Southeast Michigan

OUR STORY
VR Edutainment was born during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when isolation forced schools and families to explore new ways of learning. Originally created for entertainment, our work with virtual reality took a powerful turn when founder Sheray Laury discovered STEM education programs inside VR platforms and instantly saw the potential to reach and inspire youth like never before. That exposure ignited a fire. What started as curiosity quickly became a passion to turn VR into a tool for equity, empowerment, and real-world preparation. Sheray began building a curriculum that fused hands-on learning with immersive tech to help students gain not only knowledge but purpose, confidence, and career-ready skills. Recognizing that this needed to be more than just a business it needed to be a mission she launched VR Edutainment as a nonprofit, dedicated to helping underserved youth access the careers of tomorrow through mobile STEM and CTE experiences today.
